How AFTEL billing works
Your billing dates and cancellation notice depend on how your account was created. Your bill or payment receipt will show which arrangement applies to you.
Services ordered on AFTEL Online
- Billing period
- Starts on the date your service is activated and renews monthly on the same calendar date.
- Payment timing
- The monthly plan fee is charged in advance at the start of each billing period using your authorised online payment method.
- Cancellation notice
- Cancellation takes effect 7 days after AFTEL receives your notice.
Example: If your service is activated on 12 August, your first monthly payment is taken on 12 August and covers the billing period beginning that day. Your next payment is taken on 12 September for the next monthly billing period. If your activation date does not occur in a later month, such as the 31st, payment is taken on that month's last day.
Legacy billing (existing legacy customers)
This arrangement applies only to existing legacy customers and is not available for new online orders.
- Billing period
- Runs from the first to the last day of each calendar month.
- Bill issue date
- On or around the 5th of each month.
- Due date
- By the 23rd of the month.
- Payment timing
- The bill issued on or around the 5th covers that calendar month. For example, a bill issued on 5 July covers the July billing period and is due on 23 July. Other adjustments may be billed in arrears and will be itemised.
- Cancellation notice
- Cancellation takes effect 30 days after AFTEL receives your notice.
If a payment is late
If payment remains unpaid 3 business days after the due date or a failed payment, your account is overdue and AFTEL may begin its reminder and credit-management process. AFTEL will give the notices required by law before restricting, suspending or disconnecting a service. If you are experiencing financial hardship, disconnection is a last resort.
How to cancel
Send your cancellation request to support@aftel.com.au. Include your name, account or service number and service address. AFTEL may contact you to verify the request. There is no early termination fee because the service has no fixed term, but charges continue through the applicable 7-day or 30-day notice period. If a renewal or calendar-month payment covers time after the effective cancellation date, AFTEL will refund the unused portion after deducting charges for the applicable notice period.
