Configure your router for AFTEL PPPoE

Enter the PPPoE username and password from your activation email into your router settings.

To get online, set your router's Ethernet WAN mode to PPPoE and sign in with your AFTEL credentials.

Before you start

  • Locate the AFTEL activation email containing your PPPoE username and password.
  • Connect Fibre Box LAN 1 to the router WAN, Internet or EWAN port.
  • Connect your phone or computer to the router by Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  • Find the router administration address and admin password on its label or user guide.
Note: Your router admin password opens the router's setup page. Your AFTEL PPPoE username and password connect you to the internet.

If you cannot find the activation email, contact AFTEL. Do not post or send your PPPoE password in a public message.

Enter the AFTEL PPPoE settings

The wording differs by brand, but the setting is normally under Internet, WAN, Broadband or Quick Setup.

Using a TP-Link Archer AX, NETGEAR Nighthawk or ASUS RT-AX? See the common router setup guides >

  3. Set the internet or WAN connection type to PPPoE.

  5. Choose Always on or automatic connection if that option appears, then save or apply.

Other fieldsLeave VLAN, service name, IP address, DNS and MTU at their existing or automatic values unless AFTEL has given you a specific value.

For a modem-router previously used on VDSL, first follow the Ethernet WAN mode guide.

Confirm the connection worked

Connected: Router shows Connected or Online and has a WAN IP.
Physical link: Fibre Box LAN 1 and router WAN lights are on or flashing.
Connecting: Wait 2–3 minutes after saving before changing settings.
Authentication failed: Re-check your username and password for typos or extra spaces.

Once connected, open a new website on a device joined to the router. If the physical link is present and the credentials are correct but the router remains disconnected, record the router model and any error message before contacting AFTEL.

Avoid a factory reset as a first step. A reset removes the router’s internet, Wi-Fi and any telephone settings. Use it only when you have the required details and the router guide specifically calls for it.
